FENBENDAZOLE 1500 mg
Uses and Indications:
Fenbendazole is a broad-spectrum dewormer effective against both mature and immature stages of various gastrointestinal and respiratory parasites.
Indications include the treatment of infestations with:
- Gastrointestinal Nematodes (roundworms): Such as Haemonchus spp., Ostertagia spp., Trichostrongylus spp., Cooperia spp., Nematodirus spp., Bunostomum, Strongyloides, and Ascaris.
- Lungworms: Such as Dictyocaulus viviparus.
- Tapeworms: Such as Taenia species.
- Other parasites: It also has efficacy against whipworms, hookworms, and nodular worms.
Benefits in Livestock
In addition to eliminating parasites, the treatment is indicated for:
- Improving growth rates and weight gain in young animals.
- Increasing milk yield and fat percentage in lactating animals.
- It is generally considered safe for use in pregnant and lactating animals, but veterinary consultation is recommended.
Administration and Dosage
The bolus is administered orally. A common dosage for cattle, sheep, and goats is 5 to 7.5 mg of fenbendazole per kg of body weight.
- Withdrawal Periods: There are specific withdrawal periods for meat and milk after treatment to ensure drug residues are safe for human consumption (e.g., typically 4 days for milk and 8-20 days for meat, depending on the animal species and local regulations).
